Tutor's apartment is a great place to stay when in Hobart and Rebecca has been a fantastic host. We were able to check in early and Rebecca arranged an extra bed for my little nephew. The apartment is in walking distance (15 mins) to Salamanca Place and in a beautiful, quiet residential area. Nothing is really far away. The apartment was well equipped with a dishwasher, 2 TVs, sound system with iPad remote and basic groceries (milk, juice, coffee, tea). There was also a lot of information in the apartment about things to do - I can particularly recommend the bakery Jackman & McRoss (easy to get fresh bread in the mornings from).

Rebecca's place is just fabulous. Couldn't be happier. Firstly, Rebecca was an excellent, friendly, timely, and very clear communicator, and made everything easy with no fuss. Secondly this historic place is beautifully appointed with the perfect marriage of interesting solid historic building but modern fit out eg beautiful spacious clean bathrooms with lovely fragrant soaps etc. For us it was a perfect position too, about a 15-20 minute walk from Sullivans cove, in a beautiful quiet tree lined street. Great view of the water to boot! Highly recommend.

Private upmarket studio. Really enjoyed the extra touches such as in-floor heating, smart audio and apple tv. The bathroom is fantastic and spacious. Also has a wonderful little private deck.

Rebecca and Dermot are friendly, thoughtful hosts and it shows in the quality of the accommodation. The space is larger than we expected; accommodated 4 family members easily over a four day stay. We all loved the modern look and feel, the unique architectural touches and great attention to detail. The kitchen was adequate for our purposes however if you want to cook all your own meals, this may not be the place for you as facilities are minimal. Location is great for walking to restaurants and the waterfront. Many thanks again Rebecca and Dermot.

We had a wonderful stay just after Christmas. The apartment is of high spec, beautifully clean and only a short walk to Salamanca. Would definitely stay again.

Rebecca was a fantastic host. Her communication prior to arrival was great and instructions were very clear. The property is very unique. They have done an amazing job. The detail with big fluffy towels, robes and lovely natural bathroom products made the stay very comfortable and luxurious! The roof that opens is fantastic seeing the stars at night while in bed and the bathroom roof that also opens makes having shower an open air experience. We did not miss having no cooking facility as it was so easy to walk to many restaurants and shopping precincts. Highly recommended!

Thank you for a wonderful stay! We arrived at Christmas Eve and despite my own fault for a booking error, Rebecca was super helpful and generous in which I'm very grateful for. The house is a beauty - unique and spacious. We had a lovely Christmas with my visiting family at Rebecca's so thank you.

This place is incredible and Rebecca is a wonderful host!!! You will love everything!

Rebecca was so welcoming when we arrived. She was wonderful. The perfect host. She greeted us at her door and was extremely welcoming. Monty Hideaway was really nice. Falling asleep under the stars and sunbathing during the day was really brilliant. I kept trying to keep my eyes open to watch the sky but i felt my self drift off because of the really comfy bed. We will certainly be back to stay. Thank you so very much!!!

everything was great thank youDecember 2016
We found the accomodation exceeded our expectations. The location was excellent, walking distance to key attractions and dining. The historical nature of the house was perfectly offset by the modern extension Rebecca has created. The facilities were clean and very comfortable. The hospitality was also top notch. We would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone. Thanks Rebecca!

Beautiful apartment. Recent and very well furnished with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Highly recommend.

Staying at Rebecca's Historic Old School house was a fantastic experience. Rebecca was an outstanding host who made us feel very welcome. She was so generous with the Xmas goodies she gave us. The location is very convenient and the place beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. I would recommend it highly and would definitely return.
What Lesley loved about your listing:
We loved staying at your Airbnb and loved everything about it. You were so generous and made us feel so welcome. It was the BEST accommodation we had during our entire trip.December 2016
This is a quaint and modern retreat that George Clarke would wax lyrical about. Great use of space to create and airy hideaway. The roof popping open in the morning was so relaxing. We just lay there looking up at the crisp blue Tasmania sky. The location is only about 15 minutes to Hobart centre. The information provided by Rebecca is excellent and set us up to explore the city. Hobart is just sensational for a city break and reminds us of those European breaks. We could not recommend this place more, both the house and the city, to a couple wanting to get away.

The old schoolhouse is a great place to stay, and conveniently located in a beautiful neighbourhood. Our visit to Tasmania was made so much more memorable because we stayed here. A perfect blend of modern amenities within a historic building, very clean and comfortable, and walking distance to Salamanca Place and Battery Point. Rebecca is a great host who was keen to ensure that we enjoyed our stay.
December 2016
Rebecca and Dermot were approachable, hospitable and very easy to get hold of if needing help. The place while nestled in a lovely neighbourhood was a stone's throw from beautiful parks, Salamanca, fantastic places to eat such as Jackman and McRoss, supermarkets; all you could desire really from visiting Hobart. Would highly recommend and return myself!

Great hideout away from the city. Perfect with the Sonos speaker to allow one to relax and enjoy the moment, admiring the night sky with the open ceiling.
December 2016
Fantastic place, Rebecca was super friendly and inviting. We had a great stay.
December 2016
Rebecca has been a great host during our stay. Everything was in order when we arrive. The place was tastefully done up and as per description. Being on a wheelchair, I find the place easily accessible. Washroom offers generous amount of space for manoeuvre. Location is also near to city and offers lots of eating option just around the vicinity.
December 2016
Monty's hideaway was amazing. The room is super private and well equipped with modern furniture, high tech sound system, tv with Netflix and under floor heating. We loved the retractable roof, it felt like such a novel luxury. The bathroom was modern and spacious. The hosts were friendly and helpful, providing a number of suggestions for local attractions and food. We only stayed one night, but will definitely come back again!
December 2016
Rebecca's place is truly unique. Albeit small, it's wonderfully appointed and very cozy. What truly makes it is the movable roof in the bedroom and bathroom. It evokes a fantastic camping feel, despite all the creature comforts around. Salamanca is within a walking distance, so location is spot on for exploring the wonderful Hobart. We only wish we could've spent more time in Tassie!
December 2016
If you don't like outstanding architecture, dreamy beds and crisp linen, comfy leather couches and a groovy entertainment system, or tree-lined streets and water views, or strolling to restaurants, the MONA ferry and markets, then I'm sorry Tutor's Apartment probably isn't for you. But we like all these things and this little gem of a place delivered everything and more! Thanks for a fabulous long weekend Rebecca and Dermott.
December 2016
Amazing little hideaway that is conveniently located. Extremely high-tech with retractable roof in both the shower and bedroom as well as a connected entertainment center. Place was very clean and Rebecca was very friendly and hospitable. Had a map and binder of places and things to do/see which was very helpful. Would stay again and recommend to friends and family.
December 2016
After a day of traveling it was such bliss to lay down on such an invitingly comfortable bed and gaze up at the arched timber ceiling. The view to the left of the bed out a large window was of a small and perfect garden. I could have stayed in bed all day. It was a joy to take time looking at all the architectural details of this converted historic building. It's not surprising to find that the host exudes a great sense of love and pride in the property. Rebecca greeted us with warmth and bubbling enthusiasm.
December 2016
Such an awesome spot. The place is modern and unique. Easily the most professional, clean, and beautiful airbnbs I have seen. The open roof and music adds to the atmosphere of the room and really makes you enjoy being there. I really didn't want to go out to any of our booked tours! Rebecca and her Husband were also very easy to talk to and very helpful. She has a whole book with info/research about hobart done for you. Rebecca even held on to our luggage during our early arrival and late departure which eased us for our short stay. The walk to the pier is about 20 minutes and there is a grocery store and a couple shops to purchase alcohol, all within 5-10 minutes walk. Would definitely recommend again... 10x over!
December 2016
No coffee machine, kitchen not suitable for cooking, bath room comfort and nice
Response from Rebecca:
Thank you for your feed back, Sharon. We state in our description what the kitchenette includes. And yes, there is no stove top or oven. We like our guests to explore the good food of Tasmania and find that most guests enjoy eating out whilst on holidays. Facilities include microwave, kettle, toaster, toasted sandwich maker, BBQ. We trialled a coffee machine in the apartment for some time and found that no guests used it. A coffee plunger is provided in the apartment. We also have an Out House which has a washing machine and clothes dryer available for our guests to use.December 2016
Rebecca's apartment is superb. Everything is fitted out to the highest quality. it is immaculately clean and incredibly spacious. All the views face either Mount Wellington or across the harbour so it is incredibly picturesque. It is so quiet the only noise is birdsong from the garden. Rebecca is also the prefect host: kind and friendly. I very much hope to be able to visit Hobart again soon.
December 2016
What a fabulous find! A fantastic architectural renovation to an old school room- clever! Everything you could want, comfy beds with great linen, easy walk to town, great host and lovely extras like coffee juice and milk- we'll be back!
December 2016
My friend and I had an amazing stay at this beautiful property in Sandy Bay. The location was great, about 10 - 15 minutes walk to Salamanca through some nice back streets, Battery Point is even closer. Everything is close by. The apartment has everything you need including music system and underfloor heating. Would recommend to anyone staying in Hobart. Thanks for a fantastic stay!

Everything!December 2016
Rebecca's apartment was a delightful place to stay: very modern and clean inside, and with amazing views of the Old Bishops Quarters and Hobart hills and located in a charming neighbourhood. I stayed at Rebecca's for a work trip (with a colleague) - and the walks via Sandy Bay and Battery Point into the city provided a fabulous start to the day. Rebecca was a superb host - very welcoming on my arrival and was very quick to respond with any questions. There are also great runs in the area too - particularly down to Wrest Point or along the water front to the city / Botanical Gardens. We was sad to leave - and I would thoroughly recommend the Tutor's apartment to anyone visiting Hobart.
December 2016
Exactly as described and we can only endorse everyone else's positive comments; our only regret was that we didn't stay for two nights. We went to the local Italian restaurant listed in the dossier of information left for us and we could not fault it.
December 2016
Great location, amazing accomodation bringing together the old and new perfectly. So warm and welcoming as was our host Rebecca.
December 2016
I have traveled the world, and this is one of my favorite places. It is a historic building, but it has been upgraded in a magnificent manor. Everything is fresh, new, and tight. The paint work is meticulous. The bathrooms are wonderful. My bed was heavenly. The best sleep I've had in years. I was going to rent a car, but I decided not to rent one. That was a great decision. Walking from the apartment to Salamanca is easy. I can almost still smell the flowers, feel the cool breeze and see the harbor in my minds eye! This place is pretty much perfect.
December 2016
Fantastic place!
November 2016
We had a fantastic stay at Rebecca's place, the property is beautiful and the accomodation is perfect, with a nice stroll into Salamanca Place and well positioned for longer driving trips in wider Hobart. Thanks for having us!
November 2016
We loved our short stay at Monty's Hideaway. It was perfect being tucked in at the end of the garden and the retracting roof was a fantastic way to bring in the natural light and breeze. The location at Sandy Bay is an ideal point to push off towards Battery Point and Salamanca. Rebecca was a great host and flexible and approachable about our check-in time. We couldn't recommend it highly enough and will be singing its praises to friends heading to Hobart. Thank you from Paul and Georgina
What Georgina loved about your listing:
Rebecca, our above comment sums it up I think. A perfect little getaway. Our friend building his eco chamber in an old shipping container on a scrub property at Mudgee would be envious of fitting so many mod cons into a small space, but the retracting roof would really grab his interest. Thanks for all your help Paul and GeorginaNovember 2016
