Swim and slide at the Aquatic Centre. Head to the amazing white sandy beaches within an hour of Hobart. Tahune Airwalk. Mount Franklin Waterfall. Go for a bike tour from Mount Wellington to Hobart. Or explore the Tasman Peninsula. All 'day-trip-able'!

Family Friendly Accommodation in Hobart?

Our self-contained accommodation is popular with families of all ages - our guests enjoy the extra space of the bunk room and a hidden TV can be found in the School House (look for the apples). We are more than happy to provide a travel cot and/or highchair. We understand what it’s like to travel with little ones and busy little people - so like to be as flexible as possible with check in/out times.

Visit the summit of Mt Wellington

Mt Wellington looms over Hobart at 1271 metres tall. It is a great place to visit for outstanding views over Hobart and Southern Tasmania.  In winter, it is often snow capped, so it is also a good chance to play in the snow with kids.

There is a road all the way to the summit, although this is sometimes shut in winter. It is also possible to arrange a bike ride down from the top which goes right past our place on the way down. On a cloudy day, the views are obviously not as good but along the way there is always plenty to take in.

A GREAT SLIPPERY WALK

Looking to take your children for an interesting walk from your apartment? Or perhaps a refreshing walk without kids in the countryside without leaving town? This will do the trick. It’s a 3.4 km walk.

Click on this link to Google maps for this walk. And here's more info - Rivulet Track.

TASSIE HERITAGE – IT’S A CAKE WALK!

Salamanca is about 1km from the apartment. Here is an interesting, meandering 3.8 km walk from the apartment through the middle of Battery Point down to Salamanca Square via Kelly’s Steps and back home.

Battery Point is named after the battery of guns which were established on the point in 1818 as part of the Hobart coastal defences. The battery no longer exists. The area is generally known as one of the city’s more prestigious suburbs, with many large and extravagant homes and apartment blocks. It adjoins the waterfront Salamanca area as well as the nearby prestigious suburb of Sandy Bay.

Battery Point has a large number of historic houses dating from the first European settlement of ‘Hobart Town’. Probably the most significant is Arthur Circus with its cottages, mostly originally constructed for the officers of the garrison. Arthur Circus is the only circus in Australia.
